The AMG GT is the traditional sports car in our fleet — engine at the front, drive at the rear, and a bonnet long enough that you place the car by feel rather than by looking at the corners. It is a different discipline to the mid-engined McLaren and Lamborghini, and for a lot of drivers a more satisfying one.

The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 is mounted behind the front axle, which gives it near-perfect weight distribution and a soundtrack that is the main reason people book it. At idle it is loud. Under load through a tunnel it is genuinely theatrical. 0–100 km/h takes 3.7 seconds, and it will keep going to 310 km/h somewhere considerably more appropriate than Jalan Ampang.

How it compares. Against the Porsche 911 it is less clinical and more dramatic — the 911 is the better tool, the AMG GT is the bigger event. Against the McLaren it is slower and far easier to live with, sitting higher with better ground clearance for KL ramps. Against the Mustang GT it is a completely different class of machine, and priced accordingly.

Practical notes. Two seats and a hatchback boot that takes more than you would expect — a weekend for two works. It is wide, so older car parks need care, though it clears speed bumps more comfortably than the Huracán.

Who books it. Guests who want a V8 rather than a turbocharged six, drivers stepping up from a fast saloon, and shoots where the silhouette matters. Upper-tier deposit and driver requirements apply, insurance is included, and delivery across Kuala Lumpur is free.

Common questions

The current daily rate is shown on this page, inclusive of comprehensive insurance and free delivery across Kuala Lumpur. It sits below the Huracán and 720S, which makes it one of the better-value ways into a genuine V8 supercar.
The 911 is the more precise and more usable car — it has rear seats, a front boot, and a ride you could commute in. The AMG GT is the louder, more dramatic one, with a V8 rather than a flat-six and a much longer bonnet. For a driving trip take the 911; for a shoot or an occasion take the AMG GT.
Reasonably. The hatchback boot takes a weekend for two, ground clearance is better than the mid-engined cars, and the ride in Comfort mode is acceptable on city roads. It is wide, so older multi-storey car parks take a moment. For a full week with luggage, look at the Range Rover Vogue.
