If you asked our team which car in the fleet they would take for a week, most would say the 911. It is the least theatrical supercar here and by some margin the most complete — 450 bhp from a twin-turbo flat-six, 3.5 seconds to 100 km/h, and a chassis that has had sixty years of iteration behind it.
What sets the 992 Carrera S apart from the rest of our Adrenaline category is that it is genuinely usable. There are two rear seats — small, but real, and fine for bags or short trips. There is a front boot that takes a weekend's luggage. The ride is composed enough for the Federal Highway at rush hour, and the visibility and dimensions mean ordinary car parks are ordinary.
Who it suits. Drivers rather than passengers. Guests who have driven fast cars before and want one that rewards skill instead of announcing itself. It is also the car we most often recommend to someone renting a supercar for the first time — it is fast without being intimidating, and forgiving in a way a mid-engined car is not.
Where it excels. The Karak run to Genting is the best drive in the region for this car — sustained corners, elevation change, and a chassis that makes sense of both. Around the city it is easy in a way the McLaren is not.
Practical notes. Comprehensive insurance included, delivery free across Kuala Lumpur, and our upper-tier deposit and driver requirements apply. Self-drive is the norm; a chauffeur is available but rather misses the point.
