Yes. A foreign licence in Roman script is generally accepted alongside your passport and entry stamp for short visits. If your home licence uses a non-Roman script — Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, Thai — an International Driving Permit is required. The IDP is the safer default regardless of script, and we recommend carrying it with your home licence and passport whenever you drive in Malaysia.
The deposit is taken as a pre-authorisation hold on your card — it does not leave your account as a charge. Once the car is returned and inspected with no damage noted, the hold is released. Release timelines vary by bank but are typically two to five business days; some GCC-issued cards process faster. We confirm the exact amount on your model when you book over WhatsApp.
Every VELO car comes with a Touch 'n Go card mounted on the windscreen. It covers all barrier tolls automatically on highways like the Federal Highway, ELITE, and PLUS — no cash needed and no stopping at booths. The card balance is monitored by us; if it runs low on a longer trip such as Penang or Cameron Highlands, we top it up before delivery.
Malaysia drives on the left, with the steering wheel on the right — the same as the UK and Australia. Expressways are well-signed in English. Parking in KL is mostly in-mall barrier systems or roadside bays paid via the Setel or ParkEasy apps; we walk you through the apps when we deliver the car. Police occasionally conduct routine checks at road blocks: carry your passport, entry stamp, home licence, and IDP at all times.

All routes are toll-road highways and straightforward to navigate with standard map apps.
